Finds all documents that have a particular word or phrase. Full-text searches can only be performed on indexed text. This means that if the text associated with a document has not been indexed, then that document's text will not be searched.
There are two modes for text searches. These modes are basic and advanced text searches. The basic text search is the simplest way to perform a search, while the advanced text search provides the maximum amount of flexibility. To learn more about advanced text searches, please refer to the Advanced Searches topic. Basic text searches are explained below.
There are five modes for a basic text search. These modes are listed below:
Phrase: This mode allows you to search for a single word or phrase.
And: This mode allows you to search for all documents that contain both specified words or phrases. Selecting this mode will display the Second phrase option, where you can specify the second word or phrase that must be found in a search result.
Or: This mode allows you to search for all documents that contain one of two specified words or phrases. Selecting this mode will display the Second phrase option, where you can specify a second word or phrase.
Not: This mode allows you to search for all documents that contain the first specified word or phrase, but not the second one. Selecting this mode will display the Second phrase option, where you can specify the second word or phrase that cannot be found in a search result.
Within: This mode allows you to search for all documents that contain both specified words or phrases. In order for a document to qualify as a search result, both words must be found within a specified number of words of each other. Selecting this mode allows you to configure the maximum distance between the first specified word or phrase and the second one. Additionally, it will display the Second phrase option, where you can specify the second word or phrase that must be found in a search result.
All basic text searches support the fuzzy search option. This feature will find all words or phrases that are similar to that which you typed. The fuzzy search feature allows Laserfiche to find words even if they contain misspellings or OCR errors.
Fuzzy searches take significantly more time. If you would like to perform faster searches, then you should only enable the Fuzzy search option when you cannot find the desired document(s). If you are not sure of the exact content in the desired document(s) or the image quality of your scanned documents is poor, then you should use the fuzzy search from the beginning, so that your list of search results is as complete as possible.
Note: Searches are not case-sensitive. A search for "TrAnsportaTion" would produce the same results as a search for "transportation".

Select whether the degree of accuracy is determined by the number of letters or by the percentage of the word. If you selected the Number of letters option, then you should also specify the maximum number of letters that a word can differ from the specified criteria and still be considered a search result. If you selected the Percentage of word, then you should also specify the percentage of the word that can differ from the search criteria and still be considered a search result.
If you would only like to find exact matches, then you should make sure that the Fuzzy search option is cleared.
